The effects of air in air cooled chiller refrigeration system

April 02, 2021

The air-cooled chiller is a refrigeration device that integrates a compressor, an evaporator, a condenser, a throttling device, a water tank, a water pump, an electric control system, etc., and mainly uses its own fan to dissipate heat without any other assistance. equipment, especially the installation is the simplest, so it is widely loved by users. At present, it is one of the hot chillers of Amrta chiller plant.

The cooling effect of an air-cooled chiller is good or bad. In addition to looking at its main components, it is also necessary to ensure that the refrigeration system is in good condition. Even if there is a little air in the refrigeration system, it will affect the operation of the unit. The reason for the presence of air in the refrigeration system may be that the refrigeration system is not under vacuum; when the refrigerant is filled or refueled, the operation is improper; when the low-voltage system is working under negative pressure; or if the operation is improperly used.

Since the air is a non-condensable gas, when it enters the refrigeration system of the air-cooled chiller, it will cause the following six major effects:
1. The condensing pressure rises. After the air enters the condenser, it occupies a certain volume and has a certain partial pressure. The more air that collects, the higher the partial pressure, causing the pressure inside the condenser to rise.
2. Reduce the heat transfer efficiency of the condenser. The air collects in a certain part in the condenser, so that the inner surface of the part is surrounded by the air, and the heat cannot be effectively dissipated, so that the pressure of the condensing temperature is increased.
3. Corrosion pipes and equipment. The entry of air causes the water content in the air-cooled chiller system to increase, causing corrosion of the pipeline.
4. The cooling efficiency is reduced. The condensing pressure is increased, the compressor gas volume is reduced, the motor working flow is increased, the power consumption is increased, and the cooling efficiency is decreased.
5. The compressor discharge temperature rises. When the temperature approaches or exceeds the flash point of the lubricating oil, the lubricating oil is easily decomposed and causes an accident.
6. When the moisture entering the system reaches a certain amount, it is easy to produce an “ice blockage” accident, which makes the refrigeration system cycle poor or even interrupted.

Air entering the refrigeration system, whether it is a large refrigeration system or a small refrigeration equipment, will have adverse consequences. If air is found to enter the chiller refrigeration system, it should be repaired in time. In order to ensure that users can use the chiller with good cooling effect, stable operation and durability, Amrta chiller plant will conduct 100% performance test before the unit leaves the factory, and replenish the refrigerant and lubricating oil to ensure sufficient cooling capacity. The parameters meet the relevant standards.
